Facial recognition E-gates

Travellers using the Pedestrian Terminal in Phuentshogling will now benefit from a faster and more efficient immigration process, thanks to the newly launched Facial Recognition E-gates. With this system in place, individuals no longer need to present their citizenship Identity cards manually for clearance. The technology uses facial recognition to verify identities, significantly reducing wait times and improving overall convenience for daily commuters and visitors.

The E-gates were officially launched on the special occasion of His Majesty The King’s birthday, symbolizing a forward-looking vision for modern infrastructure and digital transformation in public services. The timing of the launch reflects a commitment to national progress and the integration of smart solutions to meet the needs of a growing and dynamic population.

The launch event was attended by the Home Minister, underscoring the importance of this milestone in enhancing cross-border mobility. The adoption of this cutting-edge technology is expected to not only streamline movement at one of the busiest entry points but also set the standard for future innovations in border management across the country.
